Tension of a proclaimers self and their calling

"For if I do this of my own will, I have a reward, but not of my own will, I am still entrusted with a stewardship." 1 cor. 9:17
"But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified." 1 cor. 9:27

One called to proclaim the gospel has a great tension between self and the truth.
This includes all the stewards of the gospel, every believer.
Should they not proclaim what they are not currently believing in seasons of doubt?
They are still entrusted with the gospel and must be compelled by their possession to proclaim it anyway.
But disciplining themselves through the doubt, to practice self-control and seeing the Holy Spirit cultivate a spirit of delightful belief pushes them towards the prize and in so doing they are not disqualified. Then they proclaim the gospel because by their own will, boasting in Christ alone and looking towards the reward.

In doubt, proclaim - lest the Devil tighten a grip on your standing.
In gracious and strong belief, proclaim - in joyfully obtaining the reward.
